I recently gave away all my painting supplies in the name of minimalism and simplicity. I like working with colored pencils because there is basically no prep or clean up involved. All you need is paper, a sharpener and a subject.
I like drawing flowers because they are pretty and colorful. It's also nice having them around the house.
I'm not particularly good at drawing especially with colored pencil because you can't erase your mistakes. I try to just "have fun with it". I like to work quickly and I'm not too fussy about accuracy. Hyperrealism is not something I find interesting or approachable. If possible, I try to capture the "essence" of the flower and what makes it so charming.
