Rhomboids

Image
This is the second piece in my series of detailed anatomy drawings mixed with watercolor.  Here I focused on the Rhomboids which connect the scapulae to the spinal column.  Drawing bones and skeletons is quite challenging.  My hope is that this series will improve my understanding of anatomy and my drawing skills.  Graphite & watercolor on watercolor paper

Latissimus Dorsi

Image
It took me a little while to finally get this series started but here is the first completed piece.  The plan is to focus on different muscle groups in the back and how they interact with the spine.   The detailed anatomy drawings are challenging, but I know it's a helpful skill to develop.  I'm trying to use watercolor to highlight specific muscle groups.  The latissimus dorsi muscles remind me of wings or a hang glider.  I used orange to indicate the tendons where the muscles attach to the bones.   Graphite & watercolor Graphite on watercolor paper Initial sketch
